Masing: We should count our blessings that PR did not win in the general elections, otherwise....

KUCHING, June 19 -  Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Masing said Malaysians can count themselves fortunate because PR did not win the majority parliamentary seats in the last general elections.
"Had they won, there would be political instability, chaos in the country because they did not have any common ideology to govern the country," he said, pointing out that their only goal then was to defeat the Barisan Nasional.

He said it is the truth that DAP and Pas cannot get along with each other because they have different ideologies and they disagree on almost everything.
"Pas is going all out to impose its brand of Shariah criminal law which is being vehemently opposed by the DAP which, of course, has its own ideology," he said.
He said PKR, attempting to be playing in the middle ground, cannot do much to stop the two warring parties from quarrelling.
He said a country, like Malaysia, cannot afford to have a governing coalition with its members quarrelling all the time.
"The recent demise of PR is proof I am correct all this while," he said.
Masing said he was surprised that PR could last for seven years despite the contrasting ideologies of its three partners and the constant fighting between DAP and Pas.
"I was hoping to see its demise after two years because I know that a coalition of parties with contrasting ideologies  and often quarrelling cannot sustain," he said, stressing that PR is like rainbow which can be seen before sunset, but disappears at night.
PKR president Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail announced the death of PR last Wednesday, blaming it on Pas for passing a resolution at its muktamar to divorce DAP.
Subsequently the DAP Central Executive Committee announced the end of PR that PKR considered hasty.
