Nancy: Adenan dares to stop religious bigots from Malaya to enter Sarawak

SIMUNJAN, Jan 2, 2014: Chief Minister Adenan Satem must be praised and supported for daring to take the steps to bar religious and political extremists from Malaya from entering Sarawak, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri stressed here yesterday.

"We can't have these kind of people around as they can cause religious and political problems to the people in Sarawak," she said at a Christmas Day's gathering at St Stephen's Chapel here.

Nancy, who is also Batong Sadong Member of Parliament, said Adenan had repeated it many times in the past that he would not allow religious bigots from Malaya to enter and preach in Sarawak.

"He is very firm on preventing individuals, deemed as religious bigots and political extremists, from stepping foot in the state," she said.

Nancy stressed that every religion always reminded their followers to champion for goodwill and unity, hence the people must play their role to maintain the spirit of love for one another, regardless of their religious and multi-racial backgrounds.

"Goodwill and unity among the people, therefore, must be strengthened and whatever differences we have would not turn ugly as they do not bring any benefit to anyone," she said.

Nancy thanked St Stephen's Chapel for inviting her to attend its Christmas Day's gathering, saying that it enabled everybody to celebrate the festive occasion.

"I feel happy to observe the happiness among the people and this is proof that the spirit of love clearly exists among us.

"This gives me an inspiration to continue to work with the local community and to see that we all move forward," she added
