Laughable if Wong is involved in Peace Party

Letter to Editor

I just want to laugh very loudly how stupid a reporter from a news portal from West Malaysia could be. He claimed that Wong Soon Koh and his supporters would leave SUPP to form Sarawak Peace Party. I called ROS director early this year, and he admitted having received an application from Peace Party for registration in the middle of last year.
How could Wong and his supporters have submitted the application middle of last year when there was no trouble in SUPP last year? Got logic kah? Serious trouble in SUPP started less than two months ago  in the run-up to the general assembly, culminating in the boycott of the general meeting by Wong and his faction.
Wong and his faction cant be involved in Peace Party. If they really want to leave SUPP, I am sure they will form a party which we have yet to know.

SUPP adopted two resolutions.

Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) has adopted two resolutions at its 22nd delegates conference.

1. Calling on the Barisan Nasional to honor and to ensure the implementation of polices that are beneficial to the nation and its people and which have been matually agreed since 1970 when SUPP joined the Coalition government.

2. In view of the current challenges facing the party, this delegates conference resolves to call on all party members to stay united, place party's interests foremost in order that the Renewal Plan of the party be implemented in full for a better future for all Sarawakians.

The delegates conference was attended by 328 delegates, out of 553 qualified delegates.

SUPP TDC limits term of office of party president to nine years

Kuching (Dec 11, 2011): The term of office of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president will be nine years or three terms following the amendments to its constitution at the triennial delegates conference (TDC) today.
The amendments also sought to introduce two deputy presidents, from the present one, while the posts of secretary-general and treasurer-general will be elected posts.
Presently, the two posts are appointed by the president in consultation with the central committee, the second highest body in the party.
Under the amended constitution, the secretary-general would take over the post of the party president if the president ceased to hold office for any reason whatsoever, until the next delegates conference.
Apart from limiting the term of office of the party president, the amendments also sought to limit the terms of office of federal and state ministers, members of parliament and state assemblymen, political secretaries, councillors of local authorities, senators, chairmen of local authorities or statutory bodies and community leaders from the party.
A SUPP’s federal and state ministers will be limited to two election terms to hold office while the deputy federal ministers and assistant state ministers to three election terms.
Members of parliament and state assemblymen from the party will be limited to hold office for four election terms, the senatorship to one term or three years, chairmen of local authorities or statutory bodies to eight years, political secretaries to six years and community leaders to eight years.
Meanwhile, the party headquarters clarified that 328 delegates, out of a total 553 attended, despite circulation of the text message claiming that the TDC had been postponed.
“Should the need arise, the attendance list are ready for Registrar of Societies (ROS) inspection,” the party headquarters in a press statement today, saying that some of the delegates were under pressure not to attend.
“If any group claimed to have 300 or more delegates in their team, then it is totally illogical and absurd for them not to come and attend the TDC and also to take over the leadership democratically,” it said.
The party headquarters appealed to all party members not to question the legality of the TDC, saying:”If one loves the party and its sincere in helping to revive the party, then he should not drag the party into further trouble.”
It said that the party was happy that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had come to give his blessings and render his support to the TDC.
“This obviously shows that the prime has confidence in the leadership of SUPP,” it said.
