PKR Wanita asks EC where does the ink come from

PKR Wanita vice chairman Voon Shiak Ni, expressing her concern, said that Election Commission chairman Aziz Yusof has failed to say where the indelible ink would be sourced.

She said Aziz was only telling that the ink was being used in the elections in other countries.

"He did also not say the specification on the source and content of the ink which can amount to non-transparency. Further, there is no specification on how the ink is to be applied, for example, on which finger.

"If there is no specification, it opens up the whole process to another form of manipulations of the voters and the voting system.

"The specifications should be disclosed to avoid irregularities during the process of voting and to close all rooms for manipulations of voters and voting system," Voon said.

On the issue of advance voting, she asked who are to monitor or supervise the process when the soldiers and police cast their votes.

"Will there be an independent bodies to supervise the process of advance voting?" she asked.

She said the results of advance voting be counted and announced immediately to avoid manipulation.

"We don't want to see that the results be counted and announced after the results of the ordinary voting have been counted and announced as in the case of postal voting," she said.

"We want to know whether the commission would be announcing the results immediately after they have been counted?" she asked.

BN man taking advantage of poor Bidayuh farmers, alleges Willie Tumek

A PKR leader has accused a "BN man" of having no moral for taking advantage of the poor Bidayuh farmers, desperately looking for money for their children's studies in universities.

"Based on my experience, the poor Bidayuh farmers would approach you and offer to sell their NCR land at a certain price they name.

"I have been approached by the Bidayuh farmers who wanted to sell their land to me. But I refused because I knew it was morally wrong to buy their land when they were in need of money for their children's education.

"However, this BN man thought differently. He pretended that he has so much land and does not need anymore land, but willing to buy the land at a much lower price than that offered by the farmers.

"The farmers have no choice because they do not have any money to send their children to universities, so they sell their land to this BN man," alleged Willie Tumek at a press conference today.

He said most of the NCR land bought by the BN man have been planted with oil palm within the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority's (Salcra) in Bratak and Undan estates.

"As a result, this BN man is the single largest recipient of dividends from Salcra. Based on my information, he received about RM1million,"Willie said.
