We have options available, declares Dr Jerip

Kuching (Jan 17, 2012): The six State Assemblymen belonging to the so-called  the Wong Soon Koh Group, have options available for them in the event that the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) is deregistered by the Registrar of Societies (ROS), one of them Dr Jerip Susil said in his Facebook today.

“The options are available in the spirit of the Barisan Nasional,” he said in his reply to a question posted to him  on the rumours that the group was forming a new party.

Asked what the WSK Group wanted  ROS to do with SUPP in respect of their complaints  of irregularities in the party’s branch elections before the triennial general meetings last month, Dr Jerip said:

“We are not in any position to tell what ROS should do. They decide independently base on their findings on the irregularities.

“We are ready and have planned for whatever is their decision, “ Dr Jerip, who is also the State Assemblyman for Bengoh and Assistant Minister of Public Health,  stated.

The other assemblymen are Datuk Sri Wong Soon Koh (Bawang Assan), Johnical Rayong (Engkilili), Datuk Lee Kim Shin (Senadin), Ranum Mina (Opar) and Datuk Francis Harden (Simanggang).

Dr Jerip  said the group’s next step depended very much on the outcome of the ROS’ probe into the irregularities allegedly committed by supporters of Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui, the Federal Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water.

Chin was elected SUPP’s president at the TGM which Wong and his supporters boycotted.

“We wait and see the outcome by ROS...they hold the crux of whatever we (will) do,” Dr Jerip said when asked whether they would emulate the example of three state assemblymen and one member of parliament from the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) by resigning from SPDP due to loss of confidence in the leadership.

SPDP, in its supreme council meeting last Sunday, formally terminated their membership.

The party had in November last year sacked former secretary general Datuk Sylvester Entrie Muran for gross indiscipline and breaching its constitution.

Apart from Entrie, the other state assemblymen are Datuk Peter Nansian (Tasik Biru) and Paulus Gumbang (Bukit Kota) and state assemblywoman Rosey Yunus and Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe, the member of parliament for Mas Gading.,

On the five from SPDP, Dr Jerip said:” As far as I am aware they including Dr Tiki and Nansian have all declared to be under BN. no matter what other maverick may say.

“They remain as BN MP (Dr Tiki) and ADUN (Nansian), though partyless for the time being,” he said adding:” I appeal to all Bidayuhs to let them both serve as the Wakil Rakyat under BN as of now until otherwise stated or indicated by them.

“Nobody can make any judgment on them as it is now their prerogative and constitutional right to choose under which umbrella they want to serve.

“I am concerned that so much speculation have caused elements of disunity in our  Bidayuh community again. I am concerned that in our zeal to set things right we fail to see a bigger picture in our community,” he said. By Sematong Express
