He said they should immediately seek medical treatment if they have sore threat, coughing, fever and body pains.

“They must go to their nearest clinic or hospital for check-up. Do not wait until your sickness have become serious,” he said when officiating at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu( PBB) Rimbas Ulu sub-branch’s trienniel delegates meeting (TDM) at the Rimbas Tengah hall here today.

Uggah, who is also the state Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman,  said it is wrong for those from rural areas or longhouses to rest at home and to sit out the pain and fever.

He said early detection can save lives, adding that it is very critical for those older folks and those with underlying health conditions to seek early medical treatment.

He cited seven cases individuals brought in dead(BID), including a 10 years old girl from Sibu.

"They or their family members were probably ignorant of the symptoms to not seek any medical advice and treatment," Uggah said, adding that with the surge, it is very important all continue to observe the standard operating procedures( SOP) in place.

"The virus is evidently still with us.

"We must maintain physical distancing, wearing face masks and observing the highest personal hygiene when you attend any wedding or funeral gatherings,” he said.
