Six-metre long monster crocodile caught at Batang Igan

SIBU, March 5, 2022 - Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) today said it will investigate into a case of a group of men who hunted two monster crocodiles at Batang Igan, after video of them with the reptiles being circulated on social media.

SFC spokesman, in a statement posted on Facebook, said the men had the permits to hunt crocodiles.

However, he said SFC would still be conducting the investigation.

One crocodile was almost six metres while another over four metres long.

However, the spokesman did not state when the crocodiles were caught by the men.

“Following the circulation of a video on social media, the SFC enforcement officers came to the location to monitor and investigate into the incident,” the spokesman said.

He said the men took the action to hunt the reptiles based on the reports from the villagers who live near Batang Igan.

“Batang Igan is one of the habitats of the crocodiles since years ago,” he said.

He added the reptiles will only become aggressive if they feel that they are being threatened or when they are protecting their eggs or juvenile crocodiles,” he said.
