A 17-foot monster crocodile caught at Sungai Suai, Niah

MIRI, May 21, 2017 - A 17-foot long monster crocodile was captured by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation's Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT) at Sungai Suai, Niah, after it took a bait yesterday.

A huge crocodile, which was caught at Sungai Suai, Niah, has been transferred to Benaya Crocodile Farm

It was seen lurking at the river by the villagers on May 12, who then reported the sighting to SWAT here.

“Our SWAT received a report that a large crocodile had been seen frequently lurking in the river," a statement issued by SFC said today, adding that based on the report, a SWAT team was despatched to the scene on May 14

“The crocodile finally took one of the three baits yesterday,  and was subsequently pulled into the riverbank and restrained," SFC said, adding the it is a male and its weight could probably reach up to 1-tonne.

Due to its extremely large size and heavy,  it required an excavator to remove the monster  from the riverbank onto the lorry before being transferred to the Benaya Crocodile Farm.
