Dusit's family threatened and harassed after he raised up Dayak issues

KUCHING, Oct 17, 2014: About 30 Dayaks  comprising members of Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (SADIA) and Dayak National Congress (DNC) turned up at Sungai Maong police here today to accompany Dr Dusit Jaul and Alim Madeh lodging police reports.

Dusit lodged his police report alleging that five men were harassing him and his family members after he issued statements on issues affecting the Dayak community.

The unidentified men went to his house, threatening and harassing wife, after he issued his latest press statement on a meeting between DNC delegation and Land Development Minister James Masing on Sept 26.

In his statement, Dusit said DNC delegation raised a number of issues  affecting the Dayak community with Masing.

The issues included lack of Dayak staff in the government departments, lack of business opportunities and lack of opportunities given to qualified Dayak students pursuing tertiary education.

"I will not be intimidated by the harassment and will continue to raise issues affecting the Dayaks," he said.

Meanwhile, Alim, who is also the DNC executive secretary, lodged his police report against Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali over the "Allah" issue.

He wanted the federal government to take action against the Malay extremist, saying that his call to burn the Malay and Iban languages Bibles containing the word "Allah" have hurt the feelings of the Dayak Christians.

He said that the Dayak Christians have been using such Bibles before the formation of Malaysia in 1963.

Alim said he expected more Dayak-based Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to lodge similar reports against Ibrahim in the next few days
