KUCHING, Nov 1, 2015 - Sarawak United People's Party
(SUPP) does not want any of its traditional seats to be contested by any other
party, its president Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian said to reporters today.
"We shall contest in all the 19 seats and new seats
allocated to SUPP under the Barisan Nasional banner," he said after the
party's annual delegates conference (ADC) here.
"Our claim for all these seats is
non-negotiable," he said, in reference to claims by UPP that it might be
allocated some of these seats to be contested for the Barisan.
He said the Barisan Nasional constitutional principles
and consultative consensus must be strictly followed, adhered to, and
safeguarded all times.
"Any admission of a new political party into the BN
must be unanimously agreed upon by all existing component parties," he
said, referring to UPP's application for membership with the coalition.
Sim said SUPP supports the leadership of Chief Minister
Tan Sri Adenan Satem to continue and to lead Sarawak after the state elections.
"We also support him to fight for more autonomy and
devolution of powers to Sarawak," he said.
Sim said the ADC also passed numerous resolutions
covering agricultural land for the landless farmers, land for low and medium
income housing, and for squatters and annual funding for Chinese independent
schools, Chinese primary schools and mission schools in Sarawak.
