Weird. Construction worker is conscious, refuses to take calls, instead wants to stay overnight on top of a 54-metre high crane

KUCHING, Feb 13 2026:  As it turned out, the 41-year old construction worker, Walsh anak Jawi, is conscious after all.

He had stayed on top of a 54-metre high crane while not answering repeated calls, prompting his site manager to suspect that he was unconscious and decided to make emergency call to Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) station for help.

The firemen finally reached the top almost midnight.

“The man is safe and there was a communication misunderstanding between him and the site manager.

“According to information from the man, he did plan to not come down and spend the night on the crane until tomorrow morning (this morning).

“However, he did not inform the site manager and did not answer calls from the telephone line and walkie talkie provided,” the station declared in a statement.

The station did not say if Walsh had come down or remained on the top of the crane, except to say there was no rescue operation.

The so-called rescue operation began when the site manager of a company involved in the construction of an international school at Northbank commercial centre, Tabuan Jaya, calling the Tabuan Jaya station seeking help around 9.16pm.

The site manager suspected that Walsh was unconscious, explaining why he did not answer the repeated calls.

The station, in a statement, identified the man as Walsh anak Jawi.

It said it received a call from the site manager of the construction company about 9.16pm, asking the station for help to bring down the man.

“An information from the construction site manager informing that the victim was supposed to get off the crane at 5pm.

After trying to contact the victim and getting no response, site manager immediately contacted the fire department for assistance,” the station said.

It said initial information is that a male victim is feared unconscious on top of a construction crane approximately 54-metre high.
