Karim expresses deep disappointment over poor internet connection in Asajaya and Samarahan

KUCHING, May 10 2026: Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has expressed his deep disappointment over the poor internet connection in Asajaya and Samarahan areas.

He said the poor connection needs attention and continuous improvement to ensure the smooth running of the community's daily affairs.

He said that the daily internet disruptions have affected various matters such as programme registration and petrol subsidy transactions that required online access.

"Things like this should not happen too often because Asajaya and Samarahan are located less than an hour from Kuching City," he said.

He said this to reporters after the closing and prize presentation ceremony for the 61st MILO/MAS Malaysia Invitational Age Group Diving Championships 2026 this evening.

Karim, who is also Asajaya  state legislative member (SLM), hopes that telecommunications service providers and relevant parties can look into the matter and take appropriate steps to improve the quality of internet coverage, especially in rural areas near major cities.

He stressed that stable internet access is very important since the community now relies on digital systems for various daily affairs.
