Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri
said she understood that the number of registration for local products had
increased to 20 this year when compared to the previous year.
"I urge those who have unique products to approach
MyIPO officers on how to register their products," she said at an Hari
Raya gathering organised by MyIPO in
Gedong last night.
"With the registration under GI, local products are
protected under the Intellectual Property Act," she said.

This, she said, indirectly increased the value of the products and a boost to the
tourism industry of the country.
"I am confident that the tourism industry will
develop positively with new and unique local products in the market,"
Nancy said.
