The remains of MH17 crash victim Tambi Jiee to arrive tomorrow

KUCHING, Sept 8, 2014: The remains of two more Malaysian citizens who perished in the tragedy of MH17 will be arriving about 8.30am tomorrow at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).


The return of the remains of Tambi Jiee and Benjamin Lee Jian Han will be accorded full military honours.

The remains of Tambi Jiee will then be flown to Kuching on an RMAF C130 aircraft while the remains of Benjamin Lee Jian Han will be taken to Xiao En Bereavement Care Centre in Cheras.

With the return of these two citizens, a total of 35  MH17 victims have sucessfully been repatriated back to Malaysia, including one passenger with dual citizenship (Loh Yan Hwa) and two Dutch citizens (Paul Goes and Fan Shun Po).

To date, a total of 199 MH17 passengers have been identified, with 99 victims still in the process of identification.

Out of the 43 Malaysians onboard MH17, the remains of 34 citizens comprising 20 passengers and 14 crew members have been identified, with nine more still pending identification.

"During this difficult time, I wish to call upon all Malaysians to respect the privacy of the families and next-of-kin of the MH17 passengers.

"As they lay their loved ones to rest, we pray that they may find the courage and strength to weather through this tragic loss," Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said in a statement today.


He added:" Malaysia will continue to work closely together with our international partners, particularly the Government of Netherlands, to ensure that the remaining victims will soon be reunited with their families. "
