KUCHING, Aug 5 2026: Sarawak Metro, the operator of Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS, has confirmed that a construction worker was fatally injured after falling from the top of a 14-metre structure here, this morning.
The incident occurred when the victim, a Nepalese national, was installing deck slabs at the construction site located near the Simpang Tiga area at around 8.30am.
In a statement, Sarawak Metro said immediately after the incident, the victim was sent to the nearest hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly upon arrival.
Sarawak Metro and its contractor are working closely to investigate the root cause of the incident with Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and the police.
Sarawak Metro said it has issued a stop work order to the contractor for the construction site concerned.
