PBDS Baru may contest a few seats in coming state polls, says its chief

KUCHING, June 22 - President of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS Baru) Louis Jarrau said today that the party's supreme council meeting will meet next month to make a stand on the state election.
"We will decide whether we should be contesting and if we do, how many seats we are going to contest," he said.
"If we decide to contest, then we will be putting up candidates in a few seats," he said in a statement.
"We contest those seats where we feel we are comfortable with," he said.
He said he may stand in Dudong where the Dayaks form about 45 per cent of the voters while his deputy, Patrick Uren may contest in Tasik Biru or Opar.

For PBDS Baru, since its registration on August 24, 2013,  the coming state election will be its first.
The party, he said, will not form electoral pact with either DAP, PKR or Star.
"We are going alone because we have our own agenda to think of," he said.
Meanwhile, Anek has indicated that he might contest in the next state election.
He was speaking at the closing of a Gawai Dayak celebration at his house at Kampomg Bobak Sejinjang in Bau yesterday.
It was also attended by Sabah Star chief Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and former SNAP president Stanley Jugol.
Anek was Mas Gading MP from 1974 to 1986, and Tasik Biru assemblyman from 1979 to 1983.
He contested under STAR ticket in Mas Gading in the 2013 parliamentary election, but lost to new Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Anthony Nogeh Gumbek.
Anek said, despite being 69, he was still very strong and would prepare for the next state election.
He also called on the young people to be involved in politics, stressing they were free to choose any political platform that would suit them, and that they were not at all obliged to be involved with BN.
