SIMUNJAN, March
28, 2016 - Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri this
morning handed over BR1M vouchers, involving RM417,600, to 623 recipients from
Simunjan district.
She said the money, though small, would help the
recipients to pay some of their bills or for buying essential items.
Nancy, who is also the Batang Sadong member of
parliament, said the government is able to give out BR1M to the target groups
because it has sufficient fund raised from Goods and Services Tax (GST).
"Like other countries, Malaysia is facing economic
uncertainties due to the global economic crisis.
"It is also due to the drop in the crude oil prices
and China's economic slowdown," Nancy said at the handing over of the
vouchers.
She said the implementation of GST, for example, is a
right move as it has helped Malaysia to overcome the impact of the world
economic crisis and the drop in the prices of crude oil.

"This is proven by the fact that the country has
collected RM51 billion since its implementation a year ago and it has saved
Malaysia from the impact of the world's economic crisis," she said.
