The announcement was made by the party's acting Youth
chief Rapelson Richard Hamit in a press statement today.
"We are glad
to announce that our president is deserved to be the candidate for Sri Aman. He has fought for the Dayak community and Sarawakians as a
whole," he said.
He said Cobbold is not outsider, but is from Ubah, Pantu and not a greenhorn in politic,
having contested in both the general and state elections before.
He had contested in Sri Aman twice and contested in Balai
Ringin, Kedup and Bukit Semuja in the state elections.
Earlier, the party had announced Rapelson, an social and
land rights activist, for Punchak Borneo and Mengga Mikui, an social and land
rights activist, to stand in Selangau.
Rapelson has resigned his post as Dayak Nation Institute
Principal to be full time in politics while Mengga is a former president of
Dayak National Congress and Sarawak Dayak National Union.
On the Pujut by-election, Rapelson said the party has a
standby candidate in case the DAP decides to not contest.
He said the party's main focus is to contest in the Dayak
seats in the general and state elections.
"For Pujut and other Chinese majority parliamentary,
we will leave them to the Chinese opposition based parties deal to contest
against the Barisan," he said.
