KUCHING, June 10,
2017: Former editor Lester Melanyi has accused Sarawak Report editor Clare
Rewcastle-Brown of colluding with Malaysian opposition politicians of trying
bring down Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak by spreading fake news.
Lester Melanyi says he knows Clare Rewcastle-Brown well enough and that she is capable of manufacturing fake news.
"Yes, she is getting all the fake information from
the opposition in Malaysia for her to publish in the Sarawak Report,"
Lester told reporters today.
He said he will bring Clare's former staff to provide
"proofs" what she wrote in the SR are all fake news.
"Give me before the end of this month to bring him
to Kuala Lumpur. He is a foreigner and has just resigned from SR," he
said.
"Once I have exposed it, let us see whether she will
continue with SR.
"I am not going this to destroy press freedom, but I
just don't want Malaysians to be misled by her," he said.
Lester said Clare has gone too far and must be stopped
from manufacturing lies about Najib before the country is ruined.
"I know her tricks because I worked with her in
2012," he said, believing that she is being funded by the opposition
politicians.
He said the opposition politicians have the money to pay
her.
"Don't tell me they don't have the money," he
asserted.
He said the so-called RM9.5 million allegedly given to
Umno-linked lawyer Tan Sri Shafee Abdullah by Najib is a fake news.
"It is dirty of her to manufacture that fake news.
"This Clare is the mother of fake news. She even
accused the prime minister of being a thief in her latest claim that he has
stolen RM9.5 million to pay Shafee.
"She won't think twice to accuse our prime minister
of being a murderer.
"She would be happy if the country is ruined,"
he said, adding that if Najib is really a bad person, then he should be voted
out in the general election.
"But I know he is a good person despite all the
accusations against him," he said.
Lester admitted that he was asked by someone to give the
press conference to rebut Clare's accusations against Najib.
