They said they have lost faith in the party central leadership as a reason for resigning.
They said the party’s national leadership in recent times seems no longer inclined to uphold and to live up to the once trumpeted ideals of Keadilan Dan Kesaksamaan Untuk Semua (or justice and equality for all).
“Instead propelling the party’s president to the office of the prime minister of Malaysia became the overriding objective and in the process, key provisions in the party’s constitution, meant to promote and safeguard the principles of justice within the party were ignored,” they said in a joint statement.
“We are also greatly concerned that the state leadership was effectively prevented by the national leadership to live out ideals and spirit of the Kuching Declaration of 2012 in the running of the party’s affairs in Sarawak.
“We have concluded that the aspirations of the national leadership is no longer compatible with our aspirations for the rakyat in Sarawak hence our decision to exit PKR.
“Before we arrived at our decision we had lengthy in-depth discussions with the other members of the cabang’s leadership and consequently at least half of the line-up will also tender their resignation in due course.
“Moving forward, the autonomy of Sarawak as equal partner in the federation of Malaysia will be the main consideration in our future political undertakings, should we choose to remain active in politic,” Boniface and Francis said.
