Julaihi hopes Petros,Petronas can reach agreement on commercial collaboration in gas sector

SEBUYAU, March 15, 2025: Utility and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Sri Julaihi Narawi today expressed his hope that Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) can reach an agreement on the commercial collaboration in the gas sector in Sarawak.

 He said the discussions are still on-going to finalise the commercial collaboration between the two oil companies.

“I hope that the discussions can be finalised as soon as possible,” he said at the Majlis Iftar Petronas at Masjid Al-Muflihin here.

Juliahi (picture) said he sees a lot can be done through the commercial collaboration between Petros and Petronas, adding that Sarawak is a big state and has a vast territorial waters where much of the gas resources in Malaysia are located.

He said Petros needs Petronas as  a strategic partner to implement its gas roadmap.

“I hope the commercial collaboration can be finalised as soon as possible so that we can the implement the gas roadmap speedily and efficiently,” he said.

Julaihi said he welcomed the federal government’s recognition of Petros as the sole gas aggregator in Sarawak.

At the function, Petronas distributed food baskets to 250 less fortunate families in Sebuyau district.

The initiative was part of Yayasan Petronas Uplifting Lives Festive programme.

The programme was also in line with Petronas Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals
