Daro Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) station said today that all the agencies involved have reached a consensus to call off the operation.
Since the operation, the search party has not found any sign of the boy.
The Form Two boy Augustine Fernando Nyalong and a group of friends were casting net along the bank of Sungai Kelai, a tributary of Sungai Paloh, when the crocodile suddenly emerged from underwater and dragged him about 5.45pm on Dec 26, 2025.
His terrified friends watched in horror as the crocodile dragged him underwater.
They then ran to inform the residents of the nearby Jingga longhouse, Pulau Bruit in Daro, about the crocodile attack which happened near the longhouse’s jetty.
The S&R operation was then immediately initiated.
The operation, which entered its 7th day today, resumed at 9am involving several agencies and villagers.
The statement said the search location started near the spot where the victim was attacked by the crocodile until near Kampung Sebako.
It said no crocodile was found trapped in the snares put up by the search party.
The S&R personnel experienced difficulties due to heavy rain and rough river conditions.
The statement said all agencies held a meeting led by DSP Rahim anak Mihos as the operation commander to make a decision to end the operation.
Apart from Bomba, the other agencies involved in the operation were the Police Department, Civil Defence Department, Sarawak Forestry Corporation, Sarawak Rivers Board, Security and Enforcement Unit, Marine Police and villagers.
