Sabah political parties should come together under GRS, Larry Sng suggests

KUCHING, Feb 1 2026: Local political parties in Sabah should come together under one coalition if they harbour hope of having political stability like neighbour Sarawak,Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Larry Sng said in his Facebook post.

Larry Sng: With the absence of national parties, only then will Sabah reach its full potential as a state

Sabah being equally diverse and located in East Malaysia, can potentially be as successful as Sarawak both economically and politically, if all their local parties can come together under one coalition,” Sng, who is Julau MP, suggested.

He said their leaders should put their differences aside, united GRS with the likes of Warisan, KDM and Star, then they don’t need national parties to form the state government.

With the absence of national parties, only then will Sabah reach its full potential as a state,” he said.

Sng said Sarawak is perhaps the most politically stable and harmonious state in Malaysia, because all races whether they are Dayaks, Malays, Chinese or Melanau all know that they need one another to make Sarawak a success.

With a shared history and vision, people work closely together and are respectful of one another’s identity, thus making us all proud to be Sarawakians.

If one race feels that they are dominant and more important than the rest, then it’s likely to cause mistrust and unease within the society.

Unless we address this issue and change the way national politics is being played, it is unlikely that the rest of the country will be as united and progressive as Sarawak in the near future,” Sng said
