The Kidurong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), in a statement this morning, said that firefighters managed to extinguish flames covering approximately 3.40 hectares by midnight.

“Efforts are now focused on the remaining fire affecting about 1.10 hectares, which has yet to be fully brought under control,” the department said.

Firefighting operations were temporarily suspended at 2:16 a.m. due to a lack of water resources at the scene, as supplies in the Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) machinery and water tankers had been depleted.

Operations resumed at 8:00 a.m. today with additional support from personnel from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station.
