Stay calm, remain in safe locations, Fatimah advises Sarawakians in Middle East countries affected by Israeli-US vs Iran war

SARIKEI, March 3 2026: Sarawakians in the Middle East are advised to stay calm, remain in safe locations, and follow local authority instructions following an on-going Israeli-US vs Iran conflicts.

Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development  Fatimah Abdullah (picture) said the Malaysian Embassies in those countries are constantly monitoring current developments and taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of Malaysians, including Sarawakians in the affected areas.

“Currently, the embassies are regularly issuing statements to ensure that Malaysians are safe and their whereabouts are registered with them.

“This measure allows the embassies to know their locations and in the event of any emergency, immediate action can be taken to ensure safety,” she told reporters.

She gave the advice after officiating the Sejambak Kasih Aidilfitri 2026 Ceremony organised by the Sarikei Division Social Welfare Department (JKM) at the Sarikei Division Sarawak Government Administration Building today.

According to her, all efforts are being made to place affected Malaysians in safer locations in addition to ensuring that the process of returning them to the homeland can be carried out in an orderly and safe manner.

“We pray that all Malaysians in countries experiencing conflict remain safe and protected,” she said.

Meanwhile at the programme, a total of 420 recipients of monthly welfare assistance received cash contributions and hampers in conjunction with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

The programme serves as a platform to express the government’s concern in easing the financial burden of the target group in addition to fostering a culture of caring and shared responsibility in the community.

Also present were Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Len Talif Salleh, Sarikei Division Resident Michael Ronnie Langgong, Welfare Department director Semawi Mohamad and representative of Sarikei District Officer Seah Han Ron.
