Schoolboy, 15, missing, suspected to have been attacked by crocodile in Sungai Seterap in Pantu

PANTU, July 21 2026:  A 15-year old schoolboy has been reported missing and is believed to have been attacked by a crocodile in Sungai Seterap today.

According to Simanggang Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the boy was said to have dived underwater  to release his net which was entangled in  a submerged tree roots.

The department said the boy failed to resurface.

“The victim's uncle informed the victim's cousin of the incident and they suspected that the victim was believed to have been attacked by a crocodile following the sighting of a crocodile emerging not far from the location of the incident,” the department said.

“Based on information from the victim's mother, a total of eight people including the victim boarded four boats to carry out fishing activities in Sungai Seterap,” the department said.

The search and rescue operation team consisted of the firemen, police, civil defence department personnel and the villagers.
