He also reminded the authorities involved that any information released must be quick, transparent and factual.

"There should be no cover up, especially since this involves the child of a very powerful political family," Sng said in a statement posted on his Facebook.

He noted that the weapon used in the attack was not a pen knife as earlier claimed, but was clearly an axe as shown on the video.

"This is the only time I am commenting on this issue and like I said I am not trying to politicise this.

"It is clearly a matter of public concern as the video has gone viral and has been viewed over 10 million times online," he added.

He said as a parent, he is deeply troubled by the incident involving the student who attacked students and a teacher while live streaming the incident.

I hope the teacher recovers from her injuries and that the other students receive proper counselling to overcome the trauma caused.

"This is a very unfortunate incident and I do not wish to make this a political matter," Sng, who is also Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president, said.

Sng said he remembers the case of Zara Qairina Mahathir in Sabah, without proper clarity the issue became a highly political matter.
