JOAS unhappy with federal goverment for not acting on Suhakam report on land rights problems



PUTRAJAYA, August 11, 2016: A Land Rights Memorandum outlining issues and demands related to Orang Asal lands, territories and resources has been handed over to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department  Datuk Paul Low's office by Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (JOAS) two days ago.

Orang Asal "troublemakers" from Sarawak win award from Selangor


Nine Orang Asal champions including a former member of the Senoi Peraq, the elite Orang Asli armed force received an award today from Mohamed Azmin Bin Ali, Chief Minister of Selangor at the International Day of The World's Indigenous Peoples Celebration for their contributions towards advancing indigenous rights in Malaysia.
Winners of the award were nominated through the members of the Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (JOAS). Among recipients include the late Arom Asir who, after retiring from the Senoi Peraq, guided the Temiar Orang Asli of Kelantan in defending their traditional territory and reasserting their cultural heritage.

S4S to hold Sarawak Day on July 22 at Taman Kommuniti Serian



KUCHING, July 17, 2016 - Sarawak 4 Sarawakians (S4S)  will be coming to Serian on 22 July 2016 for its celebration of Sarawak Day despite a disappointing meeting in which the Serian authorities refused to provide any assistance to the group.

I would also like to congratulate our Chief Minister, for the landslide victory for Sarawak Barisan Nasional at the just concluded Sarawak Election winning 72 seats out of 82 seats. In percentage term it is 87.8% a very strong convincing and strong mandate from the people of Sarawak.

Firstly, I wish to record my sincere thanks to the voters of N81 Ba’Kelalan for showing their confidence in me by retaining me as their representative in this Dewan. I repeat the promise I made in 2011 to do my best by the grace of God. I will not only speak up for and on behalf of the constituents of Ba’ Kelalan but for other Sarawakians as well that need their voices heard in this Dewan.
