KUCHING, Nov 30,2014: Ampang Member of Parliament and PKR
national women chief Zuraida Kamaruddin was stopped at the Kuching
International Airport from stepping out, soon after her arrival from Kuala
Lumpur this morning.
An unidentified State Immigration officer told her that he
was under instruction from the State government to bar her from Sarawak at the
airport Immigration counter about 9.20am today.
She departed for Kuching on a Malindo air flight from Kuala
Lumpur about 7.15am.
She spent over seven hours at the airport before boarding
the 4.30pm Malindo flight back to Kuala Lumpur.
However, other opposition leaders like PKR director of
strategy and Bayan Lepas MP Sim Tze Tzin, PKR vice president Nurrul Izzah and
PKR Youth chief Nik Nazdmi and Penampang Member of Parliament Darrel Leiking
have no problems with the Sarawak Immigration laws.
PKR boss and parliamentary opposition Anwar Ibrahim arrived
in Sarawak yesterday.
Speaking to reporters after meeting State PKR leaders here
today, Anwar expressed his regret that the state government had deemed it fit
to bar an elected member of parliament.
"It is true that the state has autonomous power on
immigration, but it should not be abused to stop legitimate political leaders
from entering the state.
"I hope, in good faith, for Chief Minister Adenan Satem
to review the ban on opposition leaders and NGOs from Peninsular Malaysia from entering the state,"
he said.
