BINTULU, June 22, 2017 - Sarawak Energy
Berhad (SEB) joined other concerned agencies extending its immediate
relief assistance to 100 villagers of Uma Badeng in Sungai Koyan Bakun
Resettlement Scheme, in Belaga, following a fire that razed their longhouse two
days ago.

Among items donated were toiletries, mattresses, pillows,
clothes, gas tanks and stoves, kitchen utensils and food items such as rice,
sugar, canned food, drinking water.
Among those at the handing over ceremony were Murum state
assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Belaga district officer Juan Ubit, Sungai
Asap subdistrict administrative officer Kuba Lusat, community leader Pemanca
Tony Kulleh and an Fire Rescue Department Bintulu zone chief Unjar Lum.
SEB was represented by CSR community relations executive
Bit Surang, CSR executive Zoee Hillson, community relations executive Alis Ekan
and community relations assistant Florida Havit.
In his speech, Kennedy remarked: “This spirit of
cooperation and kindness shown by SEB, community leaders and the people ought
to be emulated by all.
"It is during times like this when we need everyone
to come together and extend a helping hand and provide much needed
relief," he said.
Kennedy thanked all who had contributed including Bomba
Sukarela Uma Daro Liling Padong and nearby communities for providing first
response to the fire victims.
SEB assistant general manager for CSR Jiwari Abdullah
said: “We are thankful that nobody was hurt in the fire and that everyone
managed to get out safely. We hope the aid given is able to provide some respite
during this time of need."
