Enforcement team seizes 336 logs, lorry and tractor in raid on illegal logging



KANOWIT, September 16, 2017  – A joint enforcement team seized, a lorry laden with logs, a tractor and 336 logs at Ulu Sungai Tuah, near here yesterday, following a public tip-off.

Some of the logs which were seized from Ulu Sungai Tuah in Kanowit yesterday.

A statement issued by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation, however, did not give details if  any suspect has been detained in connection with the seizure.

The statement said a  joint enforcement team comprising officers from the Marine Police, Forest Department and Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) was dispatched to Ulu Sungai Tuah.

 “The logs were suspected to be illegally extracted because of the absence of official markings.

"Moreover, the timber license issued for the area concerned had expired last year,”  the statement said.

A police report on the case had also been made at the Sibu Jaya Police Station.
