KANOWIT, September 16, 2017 – A joint enforcement team seized, a lorry
laden with logs, a tractor and 336 logs at Ulu Sungai Tuah, near here
yesterday, following a public tip-off.
A statement issued by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation,
however, did not give details if any
suspect has been detained in connection with the seizure.
The statement said a joint enforcement team comprising officers
from the Marine Police, Forest Department and Sarawak Forestry Corporation
(SFC) was dispatched to Ulu Sungai Tuah.
“The logs were
suspected to be illegally extracted because of the absence of official
markings.
"Moreover, the timber license issued for the area
concerned had expired last year,” the
statement said.
A police report on the case had also been made at the
Sibu Jaya Police Station.
