(UPDATED) API readings for Serian have reached 385, Samarahan 316 levels as Sarawak bracing for deterioting air quality

KUCHING, Aug 30 2026: The overall  air quality throughout  Sarawak has deteriorated further as at 10am this morning, according to the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB).

Both Serian and Samarahan have registered hazardous air quality.

The air pollutant index (API) reading for Serian has deteriorated to 385 level while for Samarahan, it has gone up to 316 level.

According to the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) homepage,  hazardous air quality means it is  high risk people and public health.

NREB said the air quality reading for Samarahan was recorded at 300 while the API reading for Kuching was 291. a very unhealthy level.

The other weather haze monitoring stations recording a very unhealthy API readings include Lubok Antu (239), Lundu (236) and Simanggang (214).

Only air quality in Lawas recorded a moderate level, at 99 API reading.

The API readings for Kuching (297), Tebedu (297), Simanggang (296), Lundu(236) and Lundu (Lubok Antu) are at very unhealthy levels.

Only the air quality in Limbang is categorised at moderate with an API reading of 92.
