The smog from Kalimantan re-enters Sarawak

 KUCHING, Sept 29 2026: The haze has re-entered  Sarawak.

According to the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) monitoring station, six locations showed a dip in the air quality level as at 12noon today, mainly due to smog blown from the epicentre of forest fires in Kalimantan.

Serian leads in the unhealthy air quality with an air pollutant index (API) reading recorded at 175 level, and this is followed by Lundu 162, Samarahan 160, Kuching 159, Simanggang 140 and Kanowit 102.

An air quality is categorised as unhealthy when the API reading is registered at between 101 and 200 levels.

According to the monitoring station, eight locations registered with a moderate air quality range.

The locations are Tebedu (99), Sarikei (77), Sibu (75), Belaga (68), Mukah (67), Bintulu (65) and Kapit (62).

The locations with good air quality range are Lawas (41), Miri (37), ILP Miri (32), Bario (29) and Limbang (28).
