Three areas in Sarawak registering hazardous air quality

KUCHING, Sept 2 2026: While the overall poor air quality in Sarawak has remained the same as at 4pm, the number of areas registered with hazardous air quality, however, has gone down to three.

Lubok Antu, the rural town near the border with Kalimantan, has recorded an hazardous air quality reading of 358.

IPD Serian, also the town near the border, registered a hazardous air quality reading of 325 while the Kuching, the state capital, with an air pollutant index reading of 309.

Seven areas recorded a very unhealthy air quality reading, they are Kanowit (299), Samarahan (287), Lundu (257), Sarikei (256), Sibu (248), Simanggang (247), Lundu (246) and Mukah (205).

Only the air quality recorded in Bario was categorised as moderate.
