Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the assistance is the Phase 1 allocation for 2026, channelled through the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR).

Eight of the schools are under the Catholic Archdiocese of Kuching, while the remaining seven are under the Anglican Diocese of Kuching.

Speaking at the handing over of the assistance, Sagah said the Sarawak government has set aside RM10 million this year to help mission schools improve the quality of learning and educational facilities.

He also reminded school management to deposit the cheques received into the relevant accounts within three months to ensure that the receipt and financial management processes run smoothly.

He said each allocation must be used in accordance with the approved purpose and scope, and must not be misused for personal gain or unrelated activities.

Sagah, who is also Tarat Assemblyman, also stressed the importance of transparent, accountable and honest financial management by headmasters and school board chairmen to ensure that the assistance benefits pupils and educational institutions.
