Declare your assets, Baha tells Taib

Kuching (Jan 17, 2012): A Sarawak PKR leader today called on Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his State Cabinet ministers to declare their assets for the general information of the public.
Baharuddin Mokshen, a member of the Sarawak PKR committee, said Taib and his Cabinet Ministers should follow the example taken by the Penang state government and the Judiciary in declaring their assets.
“I hope our beloved chief minister and his cabinet colleagues will declare their assets. If they don’t, we in PKR will continue to bark them and let the people give their judgment in the general election,” he said at a press conference today.
He said Taib should not be oversensitive about calls for him to declare his assets.
“If he has nothing to hide, he should do it willingly and not angry with reporters asking sensitive questions.
“The declaration of assets is good for democracy, country and rakyat,” he added.
Baharuddin, who is also the Sarawak PKR election committee, said the party was almost ready to face the election which Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Razak might call this year.
“Our preparation is almost completed, our machinery is always ready and we have put our logistics in place,” he said.
He said the party would probably be fielding candidates in 11 or 12 seats while its  Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) component parties, the DAP and PAS, might also be fielding around the same number of candidates.
On the overlapping claims of seats between PKR and the DAP, Baharuddin said only “one or two seats” had yet to be finalised.
“If we are not given the seats which we have claimed, we will give our total support and commitment to the parties allocated with the seats in the election,” he said, adding that victories for the PR against the Barisan Nasional was more important than claiming for the seats. By Sematong Express
