BANGKOK, Sept 14 2026: Sarawak is expanding its international strategic networks and strengthening its energy sector development agenda through the participation of Premier Abang Johari Openg in a series of high-level meetings and dialogues in Bangkok, Thailand.

This meeting is a key highlight of the visit, particularly in terms of expanding Sarawak’s network with international industry players and the corporate sector.
Also present were Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and the state government delegation.
In the afternoon, he attended a closed-door Ministerial Roundtable Meeting before proceeding to an Energy Dialogue session titled ‘Growth, Abundance and the Courage to Decarbonise’.
He then participated in a ‘fireside chat’ session at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), a platform expected to showcase Sarawak’s perspectives on the future of the energy industry, economic growth, energy transition, and decarbonisation efforts.
Sarawak’s participation in GASTECH 2026 also opens avenues to expand collaborations and strategic networks with various stakeholders and key global energy industry players, thereby strengthening Sarawak’s position in the international energy sector.
Abang Johari is scheduled to depart home this evening.
