PKR Stampin committee members resign from the party, saying the party only focusing on Anwar to be PM

KUCHING, May 16, 2020 - Committee members of PKR Stampin have announced, in a joint statement, their resignation from the party with immediate effect today.

See Chee How

Reasons for leaving:
The lofty ambitions of the party remain unfulfilled while recent events reveal that the party leadership is only focused on Anwar Ibrahim’s personal ambition to be the Prime Minister.
We in Sarawak are not keen to participate in this personal agenda .
Sarawak autonomy vis MA 63 within the party were never taken seriously, as party matters continued to be decided from West Malaysia.
Further there is no more room for having alternative views in the party. Throughout the country, members are being terminated for having dissenting opinions, It is the party’s way of telling us it the “President’s way or the Highway”. To them, Justice is merely a slogan to fish for votes.
The termination of YB See Chee How (ex-Stampin Branch Chief) is the last straw for us. \
To us, he was the voice of justice & reason within the party.
If anyone could convince Party Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur it would have been him. The draconian act by West Malaysia to terminate him, without even a show cause letter indicate to us that all hope is gone.
Where are they going after resigning?
We assure all our supporters in the public sphere that this was not a decision we came to lightly, but it was one we came to after many long, hard conversations with friends and family.
We had arrived at this moment through circumstances wholly under the control of the party in West Malaysia.
Nonetheless principles and the people are by far more important, It is the people who make the party and not otherwise.
It is also abundantly clear that we in Sarawak need to stand up for ourselves & our principles independent from outside influence.
As for our next step, we shall continue to support YB See Chee How & YB Baru Bian.
Their principles, mettle, leadership has been unwavering throughout & inspire us all. They have further assured us that their priority is Sarawak, her people, their prosperity, their health and their development.
Why did they join the party, in the first place?
We had clear objectives when we joined PKR/ Keadilan.
Keadilan was formed in 1998 on the momentum of social reforms a.k.a. “Reformasi “with stated aims of Justice & Equality for all, sans Race or Religion.
This was on the same wavelength with us here in Sarawak wherein we recognize that for us to move forward as a nation, we must not be divided on issues of race, religion or creed.
Our hopes were further cemented , when through the Kuching Declaration 2012 we in Sarawak obtained the consensus of all the parties in the Pakatan coalition to recognise the special position of Sarawak as an equal partner with Sabah & Malaya in Malaysia.
