SIBU, Feb 10 2026: A 60-year old motorist died after his 4WD vehicle was involved in an accident with a cement lorry along Deshon Road here early this afternoon.

Sungai Merah Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) station said it received a call about the incident that happened around 12.18pm.
“The incident occurred involving a Toyota Hilux car that was involved in the incident with a cement lorry. There was a male victim, identified as Ting Teck Kee, who was unconscious,” the station said in a statement.
“The initial action of the firemen was to use an air bag to open a space to rescue the trapped victim but was unsuccessful.
“Subsequently, a crane from a private party arrived at the location to lift the cement lorry but also failed,” the station said.
The victim was successfully removed with the arrival of the second crane and Ting was confirmed dead by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and was then handed over to the police for follow-up action.
